Welcome to Blakney Views
The big sister to The Barlow Tiny House is finally here! My wonderful client, Robyn Zwar, recently completed Blakney Views...the second, slightly larger pod of luxury accommodation nestled on a hillside just one paddock over from The Barlow. I loved photographing The Barlow two years ago and eagerly anticipated the next transformation from empty shipping container to stylish, cosy tiny house that melts into the landscape. The weather gods delivered a crisp, clear winter's day which was ever so generous of them. True to form, I turned up with a boot full of foraged foliage and various pieces for styling the scenes. My marvellous assistant Maggie came along to do a spot of modelling for me and Robyn's cattle kindly volunteered to be background extras.
The design of Blakney Views feels modern and seamless with the bed tucked into the western end where guests wake up to magnificent sweeping view of the surrounding hills. A sleek kitchen and breakfast bar fill the centre space with another picture window to gaze out of and the luxe bathroom completes the pod at the opposite end. Blakney Views has a really lovely flow to it, connecting the inside to the outside with a generous timber deck, a giant swing and an outdoor bath that look out to rolling green hills as far as the eye can see. It's a completely private space where guests can decompress and lose themselves to the countryside.
We captured the interiors using the late afternoon sun to light the space...then belted up the hill in the four wheeler with a loaded picnic basket in tow to set up the picnic scene for sunset shots before we lost the light. Blakney Creek really turns on a spectacular golden hour! It was an absolutely magic afternoon and just so much fun. Being able to shoot in these incredibly beautiful locations never gets old for me. It feels like a genuine privilege and it compels me to capture the atmosphere and story of each place as richly and authentically as I can. Many thanks to Maggie for assisting and modelling on this shoot and a huge congratulations to Robyn and her business partner Allan on creating another amazing space from scratch. You knocked it out of the park...again!
