YUIN COUNTRY - Braidwood nsw.

I took my boys for a little day trip to Braidwood this weekend. A chance to take a drive, do a little exploring and stretch our legs with a walk around the town. It was also a chance for me to continue getting used to my new camera...old habits are hard to break and I'm still in that awkward stage of retraining the muscle memory in my fingers. It shouldn't take too long for them to adjust to the different layout on this camera. Braidwood wasn't as busy as it usually would be on the last weekend of the winter school hols...which was to be expected with the current covid restrictions and a bonus for us. Less trying to side step away from others as we wandered the streets, making it easier for me to stop to photograph something without unintentionally causing a traffic jam on the footpath. This little day trip inspired me to start a personal project...capturing country towns in monochrome...a little foray into street photography. Black & white photography has always made an indelible mark on me. It strips away distraction, brings out texture, emphasises line, tone and mood. I love it and I want to play around with it as part of my visual storytelling. The following images are what caught my eye on a particularly cold & grey mid winter's day in this gem of a heritage listed country town.

Til next time...pip pip! xx Em
